Sis Dorothy M. Dye was born in Detroit, M I and presently resides in Valdosta,GA. She was added to the Body of Christ in 1991 under the ministry of Bro. Leroy Butler, Jr. at the West Adair Church of Christ(now Woodlawn Forrest Church of Christ). She is the mother of two, grandmother of five and great-grandmother of a beautiful baby girl. She is the widow of Bro. Leon G. Dye, who was a Gospel preacher who went to be with the Lord in 2003.
Sis. Dye is a Christian Clinical Counselor (advanced certification), and a Licensed Pastoral Counselor. She earned her Master’s degree and Ph.D. in Religious Studies with a concentration in Christian Clinical Counseling, and has a private Christian Counseling service in Valdosta.
She also works with Valdosta State University as the Program Director of the Learning Service Center through the Division of Social Work. The program operates a daycare facility for persons who are in the early stages of Alzheimer’s Disease, and also sponsors health-related workshops to inform the comm- unity about this dreaded disease. She also does contract work with Pathway to Hope Counseling Service helping families to resolve issues that would threaten to destroy the sanctity of their family life. She is very involved in the community, working with the Homeless Coalition, the Well-Church Council, The Haven (a domestic violence shelter for women and their children), has certification as a domestic violence facilitator, grief counselor, and temperament therapist, counsels with clients who are in need of anger management or substance abuse intervention, and provides counseling services for several area churches.
She is active at the Newsome St.Congregation of the Lord’s Church in Hahira, GA where Bro. Gene Godfrey is the minister, and Bro. Herman Godfrey and Bro. Joe Rawls are the Elders.
She is the director of the nursery ministry,as well as co-teacher of the Sister’s Bible Class. Sis Dye loves the Lord and His people. Her desire is to see her sisters walking in the truth of God’s Word, and living the abundant life of which our Lord speaks in John 10:10 - “The thief cometh not but for to steal and to kill and to destroy; I am come that they might
have life, and that more abundantly.”
Her favorite scriptures are found in Proverbs 3:5-6 and Romans 8:28:
“Trust in the Lord with all of thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding; In all
thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.”
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.”
