A Dallas native and the daughter
of the late Henry and Ethel Hughes.
Growing up in Dallas, she was a member of the Cedar Crest Church of
Christ under the leadership of the late C. C. Locke until she met and married
Glenn Glass. To their union, they
produced one child, their daughter, Amanda and have been married 25 years.
She is 15-year-veteran
of her native school system, the Dallas Independent School District. She is the
career and technology educator at D.A. Hulcy Middle School where she has served
as Student Council Advisor, University Interscholastic League Coach, and
volunteered with the Athletic Department, and Campus Instructional Leader Team
(CILT). During her 15 years in education, she has been selected as teacher of
the year six times by D. A. Hulcy Middle School, Special Education Department,
the Rotary Club of Dallas, and Junior Achievement of Dallas. These honors have
come to her over the past eight years.
She has currently been nominated by Junior Achievement of Dallas for
Volunteer of the Year, a 2010 Recipient of the Southwestern Christian College
Hall of Fame Award.
In addition to her career in
public education, she works in the education department at Greenville Avenue
Church of Christ with Vacation Bible School, co-teacher of the Teen Sister Talk
Class, and works on the Graduating Senior Committee.
Jeannette has an Associate of
Science Degree from Southwestern Christian College, a Bachelors of Science in
Education from Lubbock Christian University and will receive her Masters of
Administration and Supervision from the University of Phoenix in July 2010.
One of her passions is working with teen girls
to encourage, guide and assist them in realizing that God’s word is real and
that it is the key to any door they want to walk through.
