              Shamarion Whitaker

Business Woman & Inspirational Speaker

Shamarion Whitaker is a native of Texas. Houston has been her home for the past 24 years. She and her husband Quincy are members of the Highland Heights Church of Christ where they both actively serve.

Shamarion wears many hats. In the church, in addition to teaching four and five year olds, she
and her husband are the coordinators of the annual Marriage Enrichment Seminar and Retreat. The Retreat, which attracts couples from across the country, just celebrated its twenty-year anniversary. Shamarion also serves her community. She is the founder of a non-profit organization; New Beginnings for Women of Houston. This organization partners with other non-profit organizations to serve the needs of women. Children will soon benefit from a new social skills program; The School of Confidence for Children, which the organization will launch in 2009. The program will teach children the value of a can-do attitude, as well as teach them the value of good manners (school of confidence.org).

For the past 25 years, Shamarion has been employed in the advertising industry at Universal McCann Advertising Agency, where she negotiates and purchases commercial air time from television and radio stations for her clients. She has served clients such as General Motors, Nestle Foods, Kohl's Department Stores, Sony Pictures, Johnson and Johnson, Microsoft and many others. In 2003 her peers in the media industry nominated her to be the recipient of an American Women in Radio and Television Star Award.

Shamarion's experience in radio and television led to an open door for her to launch her own half-hour weekly inspirational radio broadcast; New Beginnings Practical Teachings for Women. The program provides practical and spiritual teachings for everyday living. It is designed to motivate, empower and encourage women to develop a life that is spiritually, physically and emotionally balanced. In just a few short months, the broadcast will enter into its third year.  Her website shares more information on the program (newbeginningsforwomen.net).

Shamarion holds a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, which she received from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas. Her Masters Degree in Business was earned at the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas.

Shamarion and Quincy have one son; Roy. She is also a mother-in-law and grandmother. She loves quiet time, and loves to read. She believes that we were all created with seeds of potential, and our life's goal should be to become all God created us to be.
